Only Count The Sunny Hours

fredag 12 april 2013

Hello, and good morning!
We are approaching the weekend again, I hope it brings something nice to you. Maybe a little craft time?
Here I have a card with a slightly different folding to show today.

This is also another project for Ett Trykk and their challenge Backgronds with structure.
I made my background by first crumple tissue paper, then straighten it and stamped on it with a text stamp.

I glued it on a piece of cardstock, gave it a little more Distress inks, and  then I added a thin layer of decoupage paint.

I decided to use a small magnet to the closing of the card.
Behind the image that I have cut out from Graphic 45 Secret Garden papers, you can see coordinations paper that I have run through one embossing plate and then sanded.

I found the old metal button in a small second-hand shop a while ago. I think it´s perfect for this card. Oh, I forgot the stamp in the upper corner, it´s from Pinkpaislee.
Here is the card open. In the middle I placed a tag in a little pocket.

Entered Challenges:
Tuesday Throwdown - Fancy Folds
Crafty Creations - No Squares
Anonyme Scrappere - Hjemmelaget mönsterark+Gjenbruksgjenstand
Simply Create Too - Use Your Stash

Thanks so very much for stopping by!

Metal Embossing Ala Good Old Days

onsdag 10 april 2013

Hello everyone!
I'm back again, and that is because of  Ett Trykk.
They have started the week with new challenges for us, the first one is about metal embossing in the "old-fashioned" way.

I liked the idea with the heart, so I started by making my own that I thought for a man´s card.
Therefore I used the paper Magic Mushrooms from Landstoken for the background.

I wrapped a few times around the heart with metal wire and fastened a little tag with it.
I added a little Inka Gold around the edges of the tag, and on the heart.

The sentiment on the tag was stamped with a Rox stamp, then I cut it out with a Magnolia Doohickeys die. The big sentiment were made with a stamp from Bildmålarna.

I also used Coredinations paper that I sanded and adhered together with ribbons and flowers.
I show you the inside as usual...
I found some more challenges for my card:
Papertake Weekly - Bingo (Glitter, Die Cuts, Bloom)
Divas By Design - Flowers
Make It Monday - Anything Goes
Anything Goes - Heavy Metal
Stamp With Fun - Birthday
Robyns Fetish - Anything Goes
Dream Valley - Happy Birthday

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs, Birgit

Hold On Tight To Your Dream

tisdag 9 april 2013

Hi all, hope you´re having a great week!
Today I really challenged myself! This card is totally "not me"!
And it is because of Our Creative Corner and their challenge this week. It's about Modern Texture - as in clean lines, sleek and smoth, angles and shapes, funky and cool...

And as if that was not enough, you should use a special color scheme.
Well, here is my take on it! Remember that my style is so vintage, romantic...
I took help of this weeks sketch over at Sketchy Colors.

I thought it worked better with Distress Markers than Copics for coloring this time. It gives a little fainter and darker color tone that I think goes well with this theme.
Image: Ebony from The Emerald Fairie garden. I gave the mushroom hat and the wings a layer of Glossy Accents.

I used papers from Woodland Park the October Afternoon collection.
I think this is the first time ever that I only have used one embellishment. And that is a button of wood that I first turned face down, so we only see the nice wood backside.
One more Challenge: Bearly Mine - Anything Goes
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Hugs, Birgit

A Belated Congratulations Greeting

lördag 6 april 2013

Hi everyone!
Saturday, and my last card for Ett Trykk and their Mosaic Card challenge.
I've cut up old left over papers into small rectangles and then glued them to a new mosaic pattern.

This time I let the sentiment to be in focus, I used one K-design stamp.
For the frame I used  another stamp from Stamping Scrapping, that fits to one of Nestabilities Labels Three dies.

The brown swirls are made of vax paper. I colored in seam binding with different Distress Inks to the bow.

I will not bore you with more details, so I wish you all a nice weekend!
Hugs, Birgit

Other challenges for this card:
One Stop Craft - Bithdays
Simon Says Stamp - Happy Birthday
Make It Monday - Anything Goes

Hello again!
Now it is tightly between the posts here on my blog.
It is time for the second challenge this week over at Ett Trykk.
And it´s about Gridteknikken, thanks so much for the basic explanation link.
Here is my take on it.

I only used a couple of Distress Inks, Weathered Wood ans Iced Spruce together with stamps from Pinkpaislee the Butterfly Garden Collection, for the backgeound.

The main stamped image from Crafty Individuals was first clear heat embossed, and then colored with Distress Markers. Yet another image was made where the bird was cut out and placed over the first one, to give a little more dimension.

I folded a small letter to the bird. Then a piece of wire was twisted into a hanger and then attached with a couple of brads.
A red punched out heart was text stamped, sponged, covered with Glossy Accents and then adhered at the top of the house.

The sentiments are both pieces of stampes, and some parts are made on my computer.
I found some other challenges for this card too:
Lady Anne´s - Anything Goes
Little Miss Muffet - Anything Goes
Critter Sketch - Colour Inspiration
Totally Gorjuss - Something Blue

That's all from me today!
We'll see if I have time for the last challenge, too.
Hugs, Birgit

On the Road To Happiness

torsdag 4 april 2013

Hello blog friends!
I saw that the magazine Ett Trykk had some fun challenges this month because they published 50 editions of the magazine.
They've been looking in the archives and found some old techniques to focus on.
First up is Alcohol Ink, and here is my interpretation.

I do not have so many colors, but the three that I have, I used on a Memory Box branch. First I took metal tape and put it on CS before I die cutted it out.
Then I colored it up with Alcohol Ink.

I figured I could combine this card with the challenge of "April in Paris" over at Frilly and Funkie too.
I used one vintage image from a Crafty Secrets sheet of paper, and combined it with old book papers and a film strip.

I used some Tiny Things stamps from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz collection.
And a piece of a Inkido stamp. (France)

Other things that I have used is: paper twine, natural twine, a button and flowers.
I found a few more challenges:)
StampARTic - Vintage card
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything Goes
Anonyme Scrappere - Vintage/Shabby with book page / writing
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Allsorts Challenge - Vintage

Bye for now! Have a great day!
Hugs, Birgit

So Sweet...

tisdag 2 april 2013

Hi, friends!
First of all I hope everyone had a happy and enjoyable Easter with your loved ones!
For me, it has not been much time over this Easter weekend to craft.
But now I have just finished this card with this cuddly cutie.

I tried to use this week's sketch over at Sketch Saturday for my card.

I collored the image with Distress Markers and used papers from Bildmålarna.
The image was cut out with Nestabilities Eyelet Circles, and for the fence I used one Memory Box die.

The congratulation sentiment was stamed directly on a piece of ribbon, and then heat embossed with Cherry embossing pouder.
That's what I have to show today.
I found some other challenges to enter too:

Celebrate The Occation - April Showers (use umbrella)
Party Time Tuesday - Ribbons and Blooms
Make It Monday - Anything Goes
Challenges 4 Everybody - Anything Goes
Charisma Cradz - Happy Birthday

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs, Birgit
